I agree that were ever you go your always going to find diffrent cliques.But if you think about it everyone is different so they like to hang out with people who are similar to them, and i would agree with that. I don't agree with the fact that people are judged on who they dress, people need to take into account that if your a nice person then it dosen't matter what you wear.
Being involved in a clique can be a good thing, I suppose. However, one must remember the pain that can come from belonging to a clique. It's the classic story of high school life portrayed in all the movies: jocks shove the nerds into garbage cans. AV people (in the movies) are portrayed as extremely nerdy with taped glasses, giant braces, and tacky plaid shirts in pastel colors. The goths just keep to themselves and hover in the background like shadows and listening to dark, depressing songs on their I-pods. The preps are always the girls and boys with sweater vests and plaid skirts (for girls, of course), and know the school motto, all the clubs offered to the school, and are involved in everything and anything school spirit like it's going out of style. Being judged by what clique you belong to can definitely do some damage to your self esteem, too. You might feel depressed or unwanted, and might even turn to drugs or suicide. So while cliques can be good and make you feel like you belong somewhere, they can be a bad thing, too. I guess they can create as much trauma as they can destroy. I guess that depends on how empty/full your glass is...
I never thought of cliques as being anymore then jocks, geeks, preps… but I think your right they are just kids hanging out that share something in conmen.
I think cliques aren't technically considered a bad thing, but they shouldn't be praised upon. Cliques are just groups of people that share they same interests. Yes, i'm sure they have differences. But its who people get along with best. Having a set group of friends is almost like a crutch.

ReplyDeletetheres a lot of ways to look at cliques. as for myself, i don't feel like i belong to any particular clique. and i wouldn't have it any other way.
